Ninh Binh Vietnam

In the northern region of Vietnam, approximately 90 kilometers south of Hanoi, lies the province of Ninh Binh. Situated in the Red River Delta, Ninh Binh is a favored tourist spot for those visiting Vietnam, largely due to Tam Coc, also known as Halong Bay on land. However, Ninh Binh has much more to offer. What can you see in Ninh Binh? The province of Ninh Binh, including the city itself, has numerous attractions. Highlights include Tam Coc, Bich Dong, Trang An, Thung Nang, Phat Diem, Hoa Lu, Bai Dinh Pagoda, Dinh Temple, Le Temple, and Cuc Phuong Natural Park. Tam Coc is the most renowned part of Ninh Binh. It's a natural area, referred to by locals as Halong Bay on land, located 7 kilometers west of the city. Here, visitors can take a rowboat (known as a sampan) ride on the Ngo Dong River, which winds through rice fields, rock formations, and caves. Near the caves of Tam Coc is the area of Bich Dong, where a pagoda built in 1428 still stands against the test of time. Trang An, an eco-park that is almost as impressive as Tam Coc but less crowded, is located near the ancient capital of Hoa Lu. Trang An spans 1400 square kilometers and features clear waters, lush vegetation, wildlife, temples, and caves. In Kim Son Village, 29 kilometers from Ninh Binh, stands the Phat Diem Cathedral. Constructed in the late 19th century, the cathedral took 29 years to build. It is one of the most significant Catholic cathedrals in Vietnam and is a masterpiece of Sino-Vietnamese architecture. The province of Ninh Binh is also home to Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam from the 10th century, established by Kings Dinh and Le. Today, Hoa Lu spans 14 square kilometers, with the temples dedicated to King Dinh, King Le, and Bai Dinh Pagoda being the only structures that have survived. The citadel of Hoa Lu is situated at the base of the Ma Yen mountains, offering a stunning view of the ancient capital and the Le and Dinh Temples.
