Easter 2026: Morocco Tour – Group with Guide

Check-in and boarding at Bucharest Airport. Upon arrival, we will be welcomed by our local partner, who will take us to the hotel in Casablanca for check-in.

In the afternoon of April 6, we will enjoy a city tour of Casablanca.

Casablanca, Morocco’s vibrant economic center, offers a delightful blend of modernity and tradition. We will visit the remarkable Hassan II Mosque, the city's iconic symbol and the third-largest mosque in the world. Its 210-meter-high minaret dominates the skyline, and it is renowned for its stunning architecture, intricate tilework, and breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean (entrance fee of €13 to be paid on-site).

We’ll explore the heart of the city at Mohammed V Square, surrounded by impressive Art Deco buildings, and the charming Arab League Park, perfect for a relaxing break in nature. For a historical perspective, we will visit the Sacré-Cœur Cathedral, a fascinating structure of neo-Gothic architecture with Art Deco and Moroccan influences, built in 1930 when Morocco was still under French rule.

In the New Medina, we’ll dive into local culture in a traditional neighborhood filled with winding alleys, vibrant souks, and quirky shops offering handicrafts, spices, and textiles.

Optional: Visit to Ouled Thaleb Vineyard

We will visit Domaine des Ouled Thaleb, the oldest vineyard in Morocco, established in 1923 near Casablanca. Spanning over 400 hectares, it benefits from the region’s coastal climate and produces high-quality wines. The vineyard grows both native varieties like Faranah and international grapes such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Known for its commitment to sustainable practices, Domaine des Ouled Thaleb uses organic farming techniques. You’ll enjoy a guided tour of the picturesque vineyards, learn about the winemaking process, and indulge in wine tastings that capture the unique terroir and Morocco’s rich wine heritage.

Optional: Excursion to El Jadida

You may choose a full-day excursion from Casablanca to El Jadida, a fascinating coastal town with strong Portuguese influences. Just a 1.5-hour drive away, El Jadida impresses with its UNESCO-listed Portuguese Fortress, featuring bastions and a mysterious cistern. A stroll along the seafront promenade and a visit to the tranquil beaches offer a relaxing contrast to the hustle of Casablanca. Its Mediterranean vibe, colonial architecture, and local cuisine make this a culturally rich and authentic day trip.

Today we will visit Meknes, an imperial capital of the Maghreb, where we will fully experience the grandeur with which the sultans of the Alaouite dynasty surrounded themselves. This dynasty reached its peak during the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail, a contemporary of France’s Louis XIV. Moulay Ismail aimed to transform the city into a royal capital, commissioning the construction of numerous palaces, mosques, reservoirs, and gardens—many of which, unfortunately, remained unfinished.

We will take a city tour, where we will admire Bab Mansour, the grand gate adorned with intricate zellij tilework; the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the resting place of the city's founder, showcasing refined Moroccan architecture; the vibrant El Hedim Square; and the old medina, filled with traditional markets and local crafts.

We will then visit the archaeological site of Volubilis, dating back to the 3rd century BC. Once an important city in the Roman province of Mauretania Tingitana, its well-preserved ruins reveal structures such as the Triumphal Arch of Caracalla, the basilica, the forum, and homes decorated with detailed mosaics depicting everyday Roman life. Set on a hilltop, Volubilis offers spectacular views of the surrounding fertile plains. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the site reflects Roman, Berber, and Christian influences.

We will then continue on to Fez.

On April 9, we will take a city tour.

The religious center of Morocco, Fez is the pearl of the Arab world. It is considered the oldest and most conservative city in the Islamic world and is home to some of the oldest universities in the world, such as Al-Karaouine University, founded in 859. It is the oldest Arab university in the world and the most important institution of Islamic higher education. For this reason, Fez became known as the city of philosophers, theologians, and the center of Andalusian arts.

We will discover that the city is divided into three parts:

• The New City, built in 1912 during the French colonial period;
• The Medieval City, built during the Marinid Empire in the 13th century;
• The Old City, known as Fez el Bali, founded under the Idrisid dynasty and discovered in the year 809.

We will visit:

• Medersa Attarine, the site of a beautiful Islamic school from the 14th century;
• Medersa Bou Inania, a masterpiece of Islamic architectural art;
• Workshops of craftsmen, artisans, and tanners;
• The Quranic School;
• Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, one of the oldest Islamic universities;
• The Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss;
• Souk Nejjarine, the famous market also home to the iconic Nejjarine Fountain;
• The Mellah, the old Jewish quarter.

We will also admire the exterior of the Royal Palace, famous for its Arab and Moorish architectural elements. It remains one of the current residences of the King of Morocco, which is why interior visits are not allowed.

Optional: Excursion to Chefchaouen (April 10)

We suggest an optional excursion to Chefchaouen, the blue city of Morocco.

The tour begins in the medina, a labyrinthine network of cobbled streets lined with traditional houses painted in various shades of blue. These tones create a calming and enchanting atmosphere, perfect for strolling. Artisan shops offer rugs, traditional clothing, and hand-painted ceramics. Walking through the medina provides a great opportunity for unique photos, capturing the architectural details and vibrant contrast between blue walls, flowers, and colorful doors.

The social and cultural center of the town is Uta el Hammam Square, a gathering spot for locals and tourists. The square is dominated by the imposing 15th-century Kasbah, featuring peaceful gardens and a historical museum. Cafés and restaurants nearby offer scenic views and traditional dishes such as tajine or mint tea. From here, you can also admire the surrounding mountain landscapes, adding to the charm of this unique town.

We will be transferred to Rabat, to the hotel where we will stay. After arriving in the capital of Morocco, we will take a city tour. The political capital of Morocco and royal residence, the city is located on the Atlantic Ocean coast, at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River.

We will enter Rabat through the gateway guarded by five doors decorated with gigantic arches, garlands, and floral arabesques, and then begin a panoramic city tour during which we will see:

• The Mechouar Fortress, housing the Royal Palace;
• The Hassan Tower, one of the city’s symbols, built during the Almohad period in the 12th century;
• The Kasbah of the Udayas;
• The Mausoleum, a magnificent work of white marble where the tombs of Kings Mohammed V and Hassan II are located.

We will travel to Marrakech. Upon arrival, we will take a tour of the city nicknamed the "Red City." Situated at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, Marrakech offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

The tour begins in the heart of the city, in the medina, a labyrinth of ancient streets. The souks (markets) are lively, with stalls selling carpets, spices, argan oil, ceramics, and traditional jewelry. Every corner reveals a charming spot where artisans display their crafts. The central square, Jemaa el-Fnaa, is the soul of the city. During the day, the square is lively with street vendors, fortune tellers, and musicians. As evening falls, it turns into a stage for performances — dancers, storytellers, and food stalls offering delicious dishes like tajine and skewers.

The next stop is the Bahia Palace, a 19th-century architectural gem with impressive courtyards and gardens. Nearby, the El Badi Palace showcases its grand ruins, a testament to past glory. The Majorelle Gardens, a peaceful refuge with lush vegetation and vibrant blue accents, complete the visual experience. The Koutoubia Mosque, with its imposing minaret, is a symbol of the city. Although entry inside is reserved for Muslims, its exterior structure impresses with its proportions and architectural details.

The following day is free in Marrakech.

Optional: Day trip to Essaouira

Essaouira, the “City of Winds” on the Atlantic coast, is a charming destination known for its relaxed atmosphere, rich history, and picturesque landscapes.

We will visit the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with narrow streets, artisan shops, and white buildings with blue accents. Here, we will discover marquetry workshops where thuja wood is crafted into unique decorative items. A central point of the city is Sqala de la Ville, a bastion with old cannons offering spectacular ocean views. Walking along the fortified walls is an experience that combines history with natural beauty. Nearby is the traditional port, a picturesque place where fishermen bring their daily catch and visitors can enjoy fresh seafood. Essaouira’s beach is ideal for relaxation or water sports like kitesurfing and windsurfing, thanks to the constant winds. Moulay Hassan Square is the perfect spot to enjoy a mint tea or listen to Gnawa music.
